Kerala has wide exotic ranges of backwater destinations, like Allapuzha , Kasaragod , Kollam and Kochi , where the skiff is the family vehicle and children learn to swim before they walk.
Now we can just look out how this God's own country got the name KERALA.
Literally the meaning of KERALA is "THE LAND OF COCONUTS" . "KERA" in malayalam means coconut .As Kerala is abundant with coconut plants , it naturally got the name KERALA , we can find coconut tress everywhere in this beautiful state.

COLOURFUL FESTIVALS.....
Festivals are true celebrations in God's own country; occasions when grandeur prevails over the characteristic simplicity of the Kerala lifestyle.Be it the state festival of ONAM or the one at a local place of worship, new attire and sumptuous feats are a must for the celebrations. Beside being occasions for merry-making ,festivals of Kerala have traditionally been preservers of the art and culture of this land.whether religious or social ,traditional or modern , a festival here is complete without an art event which would range from the 2000-year -old KUTIYATTAM to contemporary stage shows.
